CORONA VIRUS – Advice for Students

Corona Virus has unfortunately struck in the UK. It is fast spreading from its origins in China and invading almost every continent. Europe has reported numerous cases and in the UK we have had 90 cases reported to date.

To prevent a rapid spread of the Corona Virus in the UK our Government have published an action plan. If things get worse they may need to close schools, ban large gatherings of people and cancel large events.  The Six Nations Rugby has already been affected with the cancellation of the match between Ireland and Italy.

We all need to do our bit to help stop the spread of the infection so below is some advice from the NHS:

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and hot water for at least 20 seconds each time particularly when you have been in public places
  • Always was your hands when your return to your student house or go into university/work
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • Use tissues to blow your nose and place them straight in the bin after use.  Wash your hands
  • Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell

DO NOT GO to your GP Surgery, pharmacy or hospital if you think you have the virus.

Look at the NHS 111 website for advice.  If you still think you may have the virus call NHS 111, they will ask a series of questions and then give advice on what facilities are available in Lincoln and what you should do next.

Remember to  BE AWARE, REMAIN VIGILANT and so STAY SAFE AND HELP OTHERS TO STAY SAFE!!
